Since our founding in 1978, Union Place has always been family-operated and deeply committed to our local community in Excelsior, Minnesota. We began as a mom-and-pop textiles and interior design shop founded by Ann Fenger. One generation later, Ann’s daughter Maud took on the business along with her husband Brian Duggan. In 2000, Maud and Brian added high-tech home systems to Union Place’s growing collection of home design services, maintaining the hands-on, collaborative approach they’d become known for. 

If you were to ask us what sets Union Place apart, we’d quickly point to our workroom – where our artisans and craftsmen create and fabricate everything from window treatments to custom-built home furnishings. The skills of our team give us the ability to design and make new pieces and offer ongoing home furnishing maintenance and repair services.

What we don’t craft in our workroom, we source from one of our over 300 vendor lines. From furniture, window treatments, lighting, decor, and wallpaper, to audio, video, and home automation systems, we can help select and source anything you need for your home or commercial space. We aim to be total project partners, and we offer both a wide range of expertise and the ability to design, source, deliver and service everything you need for your space.

Collaboration between Maud and Brian is another benefit to Union Place clients. When Brian oversees a home system installation, Maud contributes a designer’s eye, and together they choose technology that fits seemlessly into a space. Meanwhile, interior design clients working with Maud have the benefit of Brian’s technical expertise on lighting, motorized shades, and other high-tech features.
