UNION PLACE
SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICES

In addition to producing the highest quality home installations, Union Place sets aside time to participate in sustainable practices. Any electronics removed from remodeled homes are reused or donated to Free Geek, a nonprofit in the Twin Cities. The team also works hard to make sure that materials are reused for packaging and leftover fabric is taken by locals on city-wide recycling days.

We also use nearby specialty recycling facilities to properly dispose of things that can’t go in standard trash or mixed recycling bins. For example, items like household batteries and plastic bags are brought to the Carver County Environmental Center or Merrick Recycling.

The Snug (formerly FurniShare) is a group we partner with to repurpose the furniture that is removed during remodeling. They provide donated furniture and household goods to people recently experiencing homelessness.

At Union Place our talented team designs and creates new pieces, as well as offering maintenance and repairs for tired furnishings. Our services include re-upholstery, which is inherently a more environmentally-friendly practice, as existing furniture is updated and maintained, rather than ending up in a landfill.

CEO, Maud Duggan, is also on the board of The Humanity Alliance, a MN nonprofit working to provide improved access to people facing food insecurity. Participating in this organization highlights our community-focus and problem-solving mindset.
